JEFFREY MODELL SCHOLARSHIP PRIZE IN IMMUNOLOGY AT THE HARVARD MEDICAL SCHOOL

The JMF announced that it is establishing a scholarship prize at Harvard Medical School. It will be known as the Jeffrey Modell Prize in Immunology. Each year a recipient will be selected by the Committee on Immunology of the Faculty of Medicine. The recipient will be a candidate for a Ph.D. or M.D. Ph.D. degree who has submitted the best thesis on the subject of immunology to qualify for the degree. The prize will be presented to the recipient at the Harvard University Graduation exercises of the Faculty of Medicine.

Dr. Fred Rosen, President of the Center for Blood Research at Harvard helped formulate the criteria for the immunology prize. Dr. Rosen is a member of the JMF Medical Advisory. He diagnosed and treated Jeffrey in the early 1980's and has remained an important friend and advisor to Jeffrey's Foundation. It is anticipated that the first Jeffrey Modell Prize will be awarded at Harvard's June 2000 graduation.
