US SURGEON GENERAL COMMITTED TO SUPPORTING AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

Dr. David B Satcher, United States Surgeon General, hosted an extensive meeting with Fred & Vicki Modell at his office at Health and Human Services (HHS). Dr. Satcher offered his enthusiastic encouragement and support for a Public Awareness Campaign on primary immune deficiency and his willingness to participate and assume a leadership role. Dr. Satcher particularly wanted to be sure that the campaign will effectively reach all communities, including those inner city areas populated by minorities and those generally under-served. The Surgeon GeneralÕs office will be coordinating its efforts directly with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
